Sunday Musings- CH.7

Another week and another chapter of Friday Musings posted on Sunday. Sunday’s are easier for me to write these so I’m just going to go ahead and change this to Sunday Musings and be done with it.  Here we go: 1. Last weekend we visited with Zack’s dad at Lake Eafaula. The kids were so happy to see their papa. Elli has always called him Bald Papa because he’s bald (obviously) and my dad Papa With Hair…because he has hair. It’s an efficient and to the point kind of system.  Isaac was cracking us up because he kept calling him “Grandfather” and we aren’t sure where that came from. He’s never called him that before.  Elli has such a precious tender heart. She was so emotional seeing her Papa after many months.  Zack’s dad is on his way to live in New Mexico for a few months so it’ll be awhile before the kids see him again.  2. Homeschool was really difficult for us this week. We all struggled. I wrote this for myself this …

Friday Musings – CH.6

I’m running a couple days behind. Maybe I should change this to Sunday Musings since Friday’s have become one of our busiest days. I’m just going to run through the weeks high points really quick.   1. I’m going to talk about Isaac’s new passion – fighter planes. We got a book on fighter planes and it has become his obsession. We look at the pictures and read it Every. Single. Day. He takes it with him everywhere. It’s seriously the cutest thing ever. And he’s getting so good at identifying the different types of planes. It’s an Usborne book – we LOVE Usborne.   2. Aub had an interesting moment while taking a reading test this week:  Aubi was taking a reading test on the iPad and I was apparently not being considerate because she yells “Be quiet!!! I’m trying to get a gold medal and I cannot miss anymore!!!”  Me- “Goodness gracious! I’ll be quiet.” iPad- “Click on the sentence that says ‘The fox has on socks’” Aubi- “Hmmm. Well, this one says “The fox …

Friday Musings- Ch.2 First Week of School

Week 1 of the new school year is almost over and it’s been a great start to our new school routine. It hardly went smoothly and almost nothing happened the way I planned, but as Shakespeare said “expectation is the root of all heartache” and I definitely did not expect anything to go as planned.   Hey! Will you look at that?! Not even a little heartache in the Taylor home! That Shakespeare must really know what he’s talking about.  So now, with week one coming to a close, my goal for next week is to keep working towards being and doing better and learning more and more each week. One of the most amazing parts of this journey is how much I’m learning right there with them – how to be more organized, which learning systems are best, what their individual learning styles are, how much coffee I can drink before I explode…important stuff.  If I can teach my kids one thing it would be a love of learning. I want them to never stop …

Friday Musings- Ch.1 New School Year

I’m starting a new series on my blog called Friday Musings. But since you read the title, you already knew that, didn’t you? Maybe, just maybe I will be able to keep up with a weekly family update every Friday. I have kept up with my 52 week challenge so I’m hopeful. So, here’s the first installment: This week we are preparing for a new homeschool year. Elli is going into 2nd grade and Aubi is starting kindergarten. We actually never stopped doing school over the summer and Aubi has been doing kindergarten for the last two months at least, but next week we will “officially” begin the school year. I don’t like to stop because I am not as productive when I get out of a routine and it is SO hard for me to start everything all at once. I do much better if we keep some small routine going and then start just a couple new things.  Next week I will be doing my very mom-best to establish a daily school routine …

Quarterly Goals- Take One

Hello! I’ve decided to start a new quarterly ambitions system for myself and, to help keep myself accountable, I’m going to share it on my blog with all of you. I was going to call these goals but ambitions sound so much more…awesome? I’m not sure but it sounds better, doesn’t it? I hope that along the way I’ll get to inspire others to create and conquer their own ambitions (sounds good, right?) and to get inspired myself. čÖé  It’s not a long list – just five things but it still feels monstrous and scary to me. When I do my next quarterly ambitions I’ll also do an update on how I did with these. Will a fail? Will I be victorious? Who knows! It’s a mystery!  I will keep going with my personal 52 week photo challenge. I’ve been bombarding everyone on Facebook with a picture of each of my four kids every week for the past half year. I’m halfway done with it now and feeling super confident about how much I’ve grown, …

Oliver Turns One

Hello, friends! I haven’t been posting to my blog like I wanted to. I will be better! I am determined to make this a habit! So, Ollie turned one! A couple weeks ago, but it happened. My baby is on his way to being a toddler, which is hard for a momma to accept. Well, it is for this momma! Here’s some pictures from our celebration and a letter to the birthday boy at the end.  ´╗┐Dear Ollie,  Today you are one. To think that it’s been a year since I first held you in my arms is amazing. This year was filled with difficulties and, more importantly, tons upon tons of joy. I marvel constantly at the wonder of The Lord – that he would give us two beautiful daughters and two handsome sons. I am overwhelmed at his goodness. Oliver, your father and I pray for you everyday. That you will grow strong and healthy, that you will grow in Godly character, that The Lord will work in your heart and make you …
